A. Situation: Landslides in Nebraska are numerous but have not been cataloged. B.Problem: Landslides have cost the state over $4 million in the last 10 years including loss to Highways, roads and homes. The purpose of this study is to locate landslide prone areas within the state and to educate the population on the potential problems caused by landslides.

A research project to locate, classify, inventory, study and publish on landslides in Nebraska
Project Methods
A systemetic research through-out Nebraska searching and inventoring landslides in the State. Beginning in the Southeastern portion and ending in the Panhandle. All landslides are entered into a computer driven program using a GPS to locate the slides and that uses a USGS approved classification system. Information is available on the Web. Plans are to publish a "Landslides of Nebraska" by the Nebraska Geological Survey.

Outputs
Landslides at various locations in Nebraska were identified and described in detail. The principal investigator has retired. No further work will be accomplished.

Impacts
Identification of landslides will be beneficial to all future development in the affected area. Roads and other structures can be designed and or located with the landslide in mind.
